Downtown ABQ

Last summer I explored nighttime photography with my buddy Jonathan. We hit up Downtown ABQ and shot the night away until the wee hours of the early morning.

Jonathan is a photographer, with many years at it, as a matter of act. He’s taught me an incredible amount when it comes to lighting, blur and how rules are meant to be broken in photography. He’s one of the few who have inspired me to just keep at it, no matter the self doubt, no matter the creative blocks, etc.

So, I’ve made it a point to post something of my work every time I go out to shoot. I’m a perfectionist and I often find myself very unhappy with what I produce. For some reason, I feel this immense pressure to always get the best shot, but I know that that’s not the right attitude to have. Rather, I know I’ll grow with time and deliberate practice, just like I have with everything else I think I’m good at.

So, here’s to the friends who teach us new things and encourage us to keep trying, and here’s to saying fuck it to the self imposed limits we set when we doubt ourselves.
